Book 2 Chapter 5

Ayye, Lily is back to being a social leech! I knew it wouldn't take too long. I love how in order to escape "the heat" in New York, the Gormers go to Alaska. Like what the heck. Alaska?? But that's not really important. I really do love Gerty. She is so nice to Lily. Everyone needs a Gerty in their life to be honest. I like that Lily hasn't stooped so low to get George to divorce Bertha and then marry her. Probably the only good decision Lily continually makes in the book. But hey, she's finally going to give Rosedale a shot. Now the tables have turned however. He might not want her after all of this...

Book 2 Chapter 4

Oh dayum. If I was Lily I'd be through the roof. She expected to get $400,000 and only got $10,000. And the rest was left to someone who was already married and in a good position. Oh man. I'd hate Gwen right about now. Especially after she refused to help Lily out. That's low. You steal someone's entire inheritance and then don't even help them a little. Ouch. Lily is very screwed now. I'm sure she was banking on having that money at some point in her life and it's gone. To make matters worse, Jane won't even look at her. Rough. Lily is in a worse place, socially, economically, and probably emotionally than she has been up to this point. I have a feeling it's not going to get much better for her.

Book 2 Chapter 3

Wow. Selden is an amazing guy, and Lily needs to listen to him more often. This whole Dorset business is a really terrible situation for Lily to be in and he was right to try to get her out of it. Of course she did not listen until it was too late though. I'm annoyed that Lily has honestly been the only reason George has not divorced Bertha yet, and Bertha still treats her like crap. Lily is kind of screwed now. The Dorsets were her source of money, and now that they aren't an option, that $9,000 she owes might come back pretty fast.

Book 2 Chapter 2

All this social stuff is mad WHACK. Basically, you can hire someone to make you more popular. It's so weird. Seems to work for Lily and Carey though, so you do you girls. Curious how Lily thinks she can balance two different families though. How does that not conflict?? Rumors about Lily and George were bound to happen eventually. Even before she was hired as a professional distraction, they seemed rather close. Now that she has to keep him from noticing that Bertha is off with Ned, things look even worse. Bertha is a witch with a B though. Lily is doing everything to keep George from divorcing her, but she's still going to get the blame.

Book 2 Chapter 1

All these elite people treat Lily like entertainment. I guess I can kind of see why she acts the way she does...like they're only excited to see her because she is pretty, somewhat exciting, and entertaining. Selden needs to get over Lily. As much as I reaaaaaaalllly want them to be together. Let's be real, Selden could do so much better. He's actually a nice guy. Based on what Mrs. Fisher says, Lily is a playa. It's definitely covering up a different, deeper issue, with commitment or place in society, but Selden doesn't need all that drama. Of course, he can't seem to avoid it.

Chapter 15

Lily Bart is a terrible person like 90% of the time. Someone just saved your butt at a crazy hour of the morning and you still find it okay to see them as below you and their living place as "cheap". Come on  man. Not cool. And then she thinks she is going to just get bailed out by her aunt. Not how life works hun. Honestly, serves you right that Selden bailed. I would too if I were him. Granted he doesn't know the full story, but still, Lily has made some pretty poor, selfish decisions. It's also kind of messed up that Lily won't marry Rosedale just because he's Jewish. I mean she's at her lowest point, and she still can't bring herself to do it. Messed up man.

Chapter 14

Okay so this whole Gerty/Selden thing. Not for me. I know I was told not to judge them or whatever, but nonononono. Also ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! OF ALL THE PEOPLE TO SEE LILY LEAVE THE TRENORS, AND SELDEN  IS THE ONE OUT THERE!! Ugh it's just so frustrating! Nothing seems to be able to go right and it gets on my nerves. Okay but Gerty though. I mean, yes she's hot for her cousin, but come on, she's an amazing person. She saw Lily in a state of distress and immediately helped her. Even though just a few minutes before she probably hated Lily, she was still there for her. Praise be to God for Gerty.

Chapter 13

Okay so Trenor is a lot worse than I thought. Essentially, he was trying to rape Lily. It’s kind of scary to think that he telegrammed Lily pretending to be his wife and had this whole thing pre-planned. Not that a spur of the moment thing would have been any better, but the fact that it was premeditated shows that he’s hiding quite a lot behind that whole “gentleman” façade. It’s honestly disgusting that Lily couldn’t do anything to stop it. If she yelled for help, people would have questioned why she was there. The only good part of this chapter was Gerty. Thank GOD for that woman honestly.

Chapter 12

So there's a ton of stupid guy drama I could talk about again. Dumb Bertha and everyone thinks Lily belongs to them but like whatever. Oh and then Judy. I mean I'd be suspicious if Lily was within 500 feet of my husband too. But she changes her opinion about Lily every two seconds it seems and they are all just so catty. It's starting to get annoying. The one thing I really want to talk about though is THAT KISS. THEY KISSED! Life made. I can die happy now. (Except she was a dumb donkey and ran away. Like obviously you're in love with him. Get over yourself please!)

Chapter 11

I see Mrs. Peniston as a total Dowager Countess. She quietly observes and judges everything that goes on, and then when there's any scandal in her own home, she writes it off, but secretly suffers inside. But Lily really needs to not tick off Grace. It looks like she has some pretty interesting connections, and eyes everywhere! Oh yeah and these rumors of her with Rosedale...Do they even know her? Wait maybe they do. He does seem like the last man on earth who still has his money. (I'm telling you. Mad shady!)

Chapter 10

I don't know why, but it makes me pretty sad that Lily is off having Thanksgiving with a family that isn't her own. Like maybe that's the way it was, but I still don't like it. But whatever. The big thing here is Rosedale. I'm telling you that guy is up to something. He talks about Lily and Gus' luck on Wall Street as if he's the one making that "luck". Then at the opera, Gus is really starting to get creepy. I wouldn't want to be indebted to him for sure. Lily's motivation for doing everything is so annoying. It's all about social status and money. Why can't she just do something for herself for once?!

Chapter 9

Scandal! Wow I love this book. However, why is Selden still communicating with Dorset. Like come on. SHE IS MARRIED. Lily is not married. You should be getting R rated letters from her! For a second I actually thought Lily was going to make the right decision here and burn those letters. But why in God's name would I ever think that. Just one reminder of how much she hates Dorset, and she went right back to her sneaky thoughts. This whole being in debt to Trenor thing doesn't look so good to me either. I feel like she's definitely digging herself a hole. I hope she can get out of it!!

Chapter 8

This should really be Lily and Selden's wedding, but it's whatever. Gus is definitely being shady with that money, just saying. Also, don't try to get Gryce back, IT'S OVER! Go back to Selden instead of trying to get guys who are interested in girls who don't just want them for their money. Good for Percy to get out of that one while he still had the chance. Gerty seems pretty chill, but she really needs to get over Selden - he's her cousin. But hey whatever floats your boat. I wish Lily would not be so mean to her though. For real.

Chapter 7

Wow Dorset! Are you like 5?? I don't get it. She was mad Lily talked to Selden (keep in mind she is married so she shouldn't really be into another guy anyway...), so she tells Gryce that Lily drinks and smokes. Way. To. Go. And why can't Mrs. Trenor pick up her own husband from the station? Like is she just inviting people to take advantage of him? Lily criticized Carry Fisher, but how different is she, really? She is so desperate. Can't wait to watch this come back and bite her in the butt. Lily really sucks at making good decisions. I can relate.

Chapter 6

Selden is the one man. I'm just going to keep on saying it. Get over yourself Lily. Marry him. I mean this time she got pretty close. He knows exactly how she feels. It's almost as if they are soul mates (wink, wink). Plus Selden is putting up with all that stuff Lily is doing to Gryce. He could just be disgusted by her ways and turn his back on her. BUT NO. He loves her just the way she is! Okay! Not everyone is like that, girl. Get it together Miss Bart. To add to this, he acknowledges that he doesn't have exactly what she wants, BUT IF HE DID, HE WOULD GIVE IT ALL TO HER. Basically, that means "I love you" in their speech. Yes Lily, that weird feeling in your stomach. Yeah, that's love.

Chapter 5

Who knew Church could be the topic of so much drama?! Lily is totally lying to herself. She did not plan to stay home. Before Selden showed up, I'm sure she was so excited to go woo Percy with her amazing Bible skills. But the minute her man Lawrence showed his face, she was not so into Mr. Gryce anymore. Who can blame her though, Selden is just so interesting. Also, what the heck is Mrs. Dorset's problem. YOU ARE MARRIED LEAVE SELDEN ALONE SO HE CAN GET WITH LILY! Like come on woman. The world doesn't revolve around you! It's a good thing Selden smartens up and catches up to her on her pity-party of a walk. But then that backfires because HERE COMES PERCY! Stop screwing yourself over, Lily, and just chose Selden already!

Chapter 4

A. That's messed up that they get the non-wealth person to get up early and write letters. If you're going to invite someone to something, why don't you just invite them without all the crazy social expectations??

B. Come on Lily, stop judging every single girl you come across. Do you really not realize they are doing the same exact thing to you? Like don't call Gwen a balloon or Carry a something that rhymes with cut. You're just being a part of the system you don't like so much!
C. Lily. Everyone knows you have a thing for Selden. Just go for it. Forget about the money. Don't let Mrs. Dorset just have him. Really though. Ugh.

Chapter 1

Selden tho.... I'd have tea with him any time! Those sparks were flying. If that's not flirting, I'd be scared to see what is! But yeah like he baaaasically said he'd marry her but she's all caught up in the money thing. Come onnnnnn. Like he's nice, and a lawyer, and probably super hot, and yeah. (Oh yeah we're talking about Lily Bart here.) And then the charwoman sees them (she definitely wasn't thinking they were just having tea!) And then Simon Rosedale...I'd be careful there, Lily. She's not the best liar in the world at all! But hey, I'm excited to see how this goes.

Chapter 3

Yo bro! I get you're trying to be interesting and stuff, but losing all your money IS NOT the way to do it!! Rich people are mad dumb. Honestly, why do you want to be a part of their group? Selden is where it's at. Like let Percy go, chick. He's boring, kinda weird, not worth your time hun. Selllldennnn!! And aight. I get that your past is eh. But come on kiddo! Just because your mom left your dad because he was poor does not mean you have to do the same kind of stuff! Also, your face is not all you have! A few smile lines are attractive! Don't worry, Selden will still love you with them!

Chapter 2

Lily Bart done messed up!! A "dress-maker"?! Come on man. Even I could come up with a better exuse than that. What's with the Rosedale guy tho. Like come on. Let her be. If she wants to "have tea" with Lawrence Selden, let her! Don't be all up in her business. But like can we stop referring to him as "The Jew"? That'd be great, thanks.

Ya know I'm standing up for Lily but I'm gonna be real here, she's a playa!! First Selden now Mr. Gryce. And the only reason she's entertaining the idea of Gryce is because he's got dinero? I ain't saying she's a gold digger but. (So is this going to be like 50 Shades of Gryce or?) Then to end the chapter that mad annoying girl in the train. Like catch a hint! No one wants you to sit there. Smh.
